Medicare Plans & RX education

TRADITIONAL MEDICARE SUPPLEMENT/MEDIGAP  PLANS
:

Turning 65? Happy Birthday! You are in open enrollment, any company, any plan is yours for the asking, 6 months from the date of Part B on your Medicare Claim Card. The two most requested plans are TRADITIONAL MEDICARE SUPPLEMENT letters "G" and "F". June 1, 2010 brings the MODERNIZED Medicare Supplement "N" to the mix. If you have standard coverage issued before June 1, 2010, you can keep it, you are "grandfathered" in as long as premiums are paid. Plan "N" has no health questions to ask (shop talk: automatic issue) and an up to $20.00 co-payment is enticing for the lower cost in monthly coverage.

1200
satisfied seniors from Asheville to Charleston decide on letters "D" or "G". Here's why- You pay less and you get more benefits, it's that simple. All traditional plans pay the Part A hospital deductible for you, it's cost effective to pay the Part B $162 yearly out of your own pocket and be sure you have the $1600 yearly benefit of 40 days of care at home even if you havenot used it, modernized plans exclude it.

BEWARE OF AGENTS CALLING TO OFFER "SAME BENEFIT LETTER AS YOU HAVE FOR LESS COST"....The $1600.00 will no longer be part of plan "D" or "G" and you may not know it until after you switched, all clients are to call in 2 months before birthday annually to see how we can better assist you!

If you have a Long Term Care Plan many times "D" or "G"  saves you money by offsetting the exemption period of time. With or without LTC, coverage will be in place and ready for you if needed. After all, that is what insurance means. After June 1, 2010 "G" will omit the $1600.00 at home recovery benefit and bump up their 80% EXCESS to 100%.

An RX plan is purchased in addition to the Medicare Supplement at your discretion as there is a 1% penalty accruing without sign up.

Once open enrollment is closed (over age 65) you must qualify/answer health questions for your insurance coverage with a traditional plan. If you are now over age 65, we encourage you to fill out the form below for traditional plan or advantage plan guidance. Advantage plans will accept you in their enrollment times as long as you are not in end-stage renal disease (ESRD). Do not jump out of your 100% paid traditional coverage into a low or no premium plan believing you will save money monthly when there is a annual, maximum out of pocket cost you may not realize. Making a decision that may not be in your best interest for your current health condition after all. New Plan "N" can be purchased at any time without underwriting/medical questions.

MEDICARE ADVANTAGE PLAN/PART C COVERAGE:
These plans are low or no monthly premium - but you will pay a cost/price/fee - for - many services you have  (private fee for service means the insurance company decides the cost of service each time you use the plan)  until a yearly cost/fee, otherwise known as an annual maximum out of pocket, of $3900.00 - $6700.00 is USED per person- per contract year by paying set co-pays your services/costs are then paid 100% by company. Depending on where you live, which company you choose, in some counties there is no coverage: You can purchase a plan with and without prescription drug coverage MA vs. MAPD. Traditional coverage the "Medicare Supplement"  may cost you $1050 per year, and you may not like paying it, but an advantage plan Part C could cost you the maximum for one year and you surely won't like that....PLUS you may not be eligible to change back to the Traditional Medicare Plan you had. This could turn an advantage plan into a disadvantage quickly. Once again, plans end 12/31 annually. 2012 ENROLLMENT begins October 15 and ends December 7, 2011, the company may scoot out of the market completely or call you to say you are welcomed to stay in the same company for next year....BUT ALL THE BENEFITS AND MONTHLY COST CHANGE!

You must have Medicare Parts A & B for advantage plans and most plans have the Part B $162.00 deductible to pay, just like the traditional plan. These plans are especially recommended for underage 65 applicants who are already on disability or when traditional premiums top $2,500.00 annually.  With governmental changes there may be other options in the future. Advantage plans may leave you with 20% costs of radiation, chemo., dialysis therapies as well as MRI and CT scans.

LONG TERM CARE PLAN:
Let us shop the companies to meet your budget and have the most coverage. You already know that Nursing Home facilities are charging upwards of $3000.00 each month or you wouldn't be shopping. The at home recovery benefit in a Medicare Supplement Plan "D" or "G" offsets the LTC premium with 40 days of care so you can take a longer exemption period of time saving you on premium annually. For those with large deposit annuities or single premium life insurance plans, you may benefit with a rider that releases LTC monies as needed.

Please fill out the form below

Our agents will begin to shop our 15 carriers for the most benefits at the least monthly premium. We welcome the opportunity to meet your insurance needs and your budget.
Our goal is to make clients - not just a sale!

Should you have questions concerning a Private Fee for Service Plan vs. Medicare Supplement and/or the Part D prescription plan you can reach an agent by email right now:

  p r e s c r i p t i o n s

Please notify us for price comparison before changing or adding a Part D RX plan to your budget. You must notify Medicare 1-800-Medicare and/or Social Security Department at 1-800-772-1213 for changes with coverage and debits from your social security benefit monthly check.

You could have a RX stand alone plan or have RX coverage with your Advantage Plan.  Some retailers are now offering certain generic medications for $4.00 each 30 days/$10 each 90 days at the counter and there is no plan required. A 1% penalty per month is enforce for those who choose to refuse this government regulated RX plan. You may sign up 3 months before and after your 65th birthdate at open enrollment time or each November 15. This gives you the opportunity to see your Dr. and make changes for new scripts. Best saving for 90 day scripts.

As of 2006 you have to select both a company and a plan.
We will be representing Coventry/MEDCO and CIGNA for 2010 year. Some plans you may be comparing have a $100.00 - $310.00 yearly deductible to pay.   Price your current medications, noting which "tier" your prescription falls under with the company direct instead of the Government sites.

SOUTH CAROLINA               $28 to $61 monthly cost
NORTH CAROLINA               $31 to $67 monthly cost

PLEASE FILL OUT THE FORM AT THE END OF THIS PAGE WITH YOUR MEDS/RX AND WE WILL SHOP FOR YOU! pLEASE BE SURE TO COPY FROM THE CONTAINER AND NOT FROM MEMORY!!!!

You may pay a 60 day cost to receive a 90 day supply or use mail order. You may click on the link below to see a comparison of 2006 to 2010 changes to Part D:
